Research Strategy

We provide grants to researchers seeking to address one of the top 10 research priorities identified by the recent James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnership for Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

The awards seek to support research which is likely to make a tangible difference to those affected by hyperemesis, including researchers seeking pilot or proof of concept data required for large-scale funding from other sources.

We want to have maximum impact on the lives of people affected by hyperemesis. Consequently, we fund projects that are part of a pathway, including through pump-priming. Applicants will be asked to outline the future steps they anticipate for this line of work, including from where they might seek large-scale funding for subsequent work.

International researchers are encouraged to apply, particularly those from Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs). Applications from LMICs can focus on a pressing question affecting people in their countries, whether or not it is in the JLA top 10.

Such applications should include evidence that demonstrates that this is indeed a pressing question of patients and professionals have about the condition’s cause, its effects and its treatments.
